Review | Flower Zoom-In Ultimate Mascara

As someone who peruses the cosmetics aisles of WalMart quite frequently, I was surprised when I saw a new brand pop up. Flower Beauty, founded by actress Drew Barrymore, has taken over an end cap at my local store. No doubt, the unique and well-designed packaging drew me in (lol punz 4evr so funny). Unfortunately I don't think they've stocked the full line yet. Her brand claims to deliver high-end quality at an affordable price - made possible by not sinking loads of money into advertising. Which explains why I was so ignorant to the launch. After having looked into more products from her range, I'm intrigued. She seems to have created a solid collection. Every base is covered, from foundation (or tinted moisturizer/BB cream) to eyes, lips, and nails. I managed to get my hands on the Zoom-In Ultimate mascara and thus far I've been very impressed.
There are 3 mascaras total in the range, but this one is easily the most unique. At the top of the wand, you can twist two times to change the shape of the rubber bristles. The first setting resembles a fairly standard lengthening brush and puts me in the mind of something like Covergirl LashBlash Length. However, the second setting is slightly squatter and is subtly twisted to help curl the lashes. Lastly the third setting is much shorter and more twisted, aiding in plumping lashes and adding volume. This function is something I've never found at the drugstore. It's versatile enough to possibly cut out some of the other products in your kit.

I bought Zoom-In in the shade brown - a feat considering many brands focus on black formulas regardless of their price point. Flower's offering has a nice, semi-dry formula that doesn't weigh down lashes or make a mess. I like to start with the second setting to lock in curl, then follow up by brushing out any clumps and coating the bottom lashes with the first setting. The third is useful when I want a slightly more dramatic lash. I've had very slight issues with flaking, but nothing obscene and no smudging whatsoever.
Overall, I would highly recommend this mascara. The formula would be on-point even sans the mechanical brush. At just under $8, it's fairly in line with most drugstore brands' price points. I fully intend on exploring the brand further, especially the "Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Rouge" cream blushes. Well done Drew, well done.

See ya dudes next week!

So this isn't a monthly favorite by any means (I am fully aware it is literally the middle of October), but I figured I would share which products I have been using the most recently! Click play on the video below, yo.

Favorites | Mascara Edition

Oh mascara. In the rush to look put together mascara and lipstick will always do the trick. Mascara formulas and brushes are all completely different...which is why I have about eight of them. However, instead of giving an inventory on my chosen products I'll just go ahead and share three of my favorites. They're noteworthy, okaii?

Revlon Photo Ready 3D Mascara is one that I've been using for awhile. It never fails to disappoint me. I typically grab this mascara for day-to-day use because it isn't super dramatic but it still has enough definition. The brush is really nice because I never notice the formula clumping on the brush. I've always been a massive fan of Revlon and own another one of their mascaras but I would say that their Photo Ready line is by far my favorite.

It's So Big Volumizing Mascara was a little gem I got in my ipsy bag last month. At first I was a bit concerned because I didn't think the formula would dry nicely on my lashes but I actually really enjoy the formula because it doesn't feel heavy. The brush is amazing. The hourglass shape of the brush makes the ends of my lashes fan out and gives the effect of having fake lashes. This is something I will definitely be purchasing.

They're Real! Mascara from Benefit is just beyond. I believe I have mentioned it before. I got the mini one from my Sephora birthday gift but it does retail for $10 and the full size for $23. I think the brush is really interesting. It allows you to get full coverage of the lashes. The bristles at the end allow for the smaller lashes in the corner to be coated. The formula is really nice because I don't really ever have the problem of the mascara smudging on my eyelid and messing up my eyeshadow.

Until next week!

Review | Mascaras

Allo, chaps. Today I decided to review some products for you - specifically, mascara. I'm personally  not a huge mascara junkie (*ahem* Rachel and Tessa) so it's easy for me to take the ones I have and go over them for you readers!

Smashbox Hyperlash ($22)
This is my faveee mascara. I only have the mini version from a Smashbox sampler I purchased a while ago but it has definitely made an impression. The brush is plastic but I don't mind that. It makes your lashes crazy, CRAZY long but without clumping. I recommend this if you're thinking of buying a high-end mascara for the first time.

Benefit They're Real! ($23)
I bought this mascara on a whim a few months ago, which is never a good way to buy makeup. I had heard good reviews about it and was desperately in need of a new mascara so I figured, ehhh what the hell? Well, I'm not that impressed. It's not clumpy but it doesn't do that great of a job of lengthening or thickening my lashes. I believe there are better products out there (such as Smashbox Hyperlash!)

Clinique High Impact ($16)
Another just alright mascara here. The brush is incredibly thick and sometimes clumps my lashes, which I don't like. If I'm in a rush I'll toss it in my bag to touch-up, but other than that I don't use it much.

Maybelline Great Lash in Clear ($5.49)
I always buy this at the beginning of the summer and then toss it once October hits. This stuff is AMAZING for the summer because it makes your lashes really long and sexy without looking overdone. During the summer if I'm hanging out with friends or going to the pool I don't want a ton of mascara on, so I reach for this and it gives just enough to look awake.

Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies ($6.99)
You guys have heard me talk about this stuff enough. All I'm gonna say is that it's my favorite drugstore mascara. SUCH good quality for the drugstore.

Rimmel London Scandal Eyes - Waterproof ($6.99)
I bought this when I went absolutely insane at Target last Sunday. That Target trip was devastating for my bank account... but anyway. I purchased it because I needed a waterproof mascara for when I go to the pool with boys and want to look normal. It does the job but I'm by no means super impressed. I have found it really awesome to use before using The Falsies to make my eyes insanely pop, though!

So that's all for me today! Until next week.
