Miracle Mask
I've been wanting to grow my hair out into a bob and any length cut off when your hair is this short feels like I've been given a buzz cut. Grasping at any straws to keep my hair I started researching hair masks like my life depended on it. My Aussie 3 Minute Miracle and line of Organix hair masks wouldn't even touch the damage I had done.
Finally, a hair mask sent from heaven. It's more of a mixture of two since I tried them individually and they didn't make me cry tears of joy. First, on dry hair I put some Virgin Coconut Oil on the ends and then work it completely into my hair. I love using Coconut Oil because even though it is a solid in the jar, it just melts into your palms and is easy to use. I've had this jar for awhile, I bought this at my local grocery store awhile back for pretty cheap and I've used it for a range of reasons. After I've combed that through my hair, I use the Redken Extreme Strength Builder Plus. I saw Kate from gh0stparties post on this and she seriously was not lying about how amazing it smells. Apart from the smell it does some serious work on your hair. The Redken Extreme Line is based on the IPN (Interlock Protein Network) that works at the source of the problem rather than just cover up the issues, which is what I feel like a lot of hair masks do.
After I've combed my hair again to make sure that the Redken product and Coconut Oil have mixed together I put a shower cap over my hair and blow dry it for just a little bit (low heat) and then leave it on for thirty minutes. I say thirty minutes because I've done my fair share of research on this. Masks that are supposed to stay on overnight do not do anything more than one for thirty minutes. No matter the base of the mask, the hair will absorb all it can in that thirty minutes. Masks that stay on overnight can actually do more damage by over-conditioning your hair which can make it brittle and prone to breakage. So only thirty minutes, people!
Annyywayyy, after that thirty minutes, I just rinse it out and follow it with my Lee Stafford Toning Shampoo and Conditioner. This helped my hair so much. The mixture of both these products left my hair and scalp feeling like I haven't put it through months of torture. I use this about twice a week and I feel like it earns the name 'Miracle Mask.'
If you try this you'll have to let me know how it works for you!

Review | Wen Fig Cleansing Conditioner
I'm sure we've all seen the Wen infomercials and all of the miraculous before and after pictures. That being said, we've all seen the price too. Not that pretty for a small bottle, but hey, it's a 5-in-1 product. Typically when it comes to hair, anything that acts as a 2-in-1 freaks me out because that means my hair will turn into a birds nest. Wen claims to be cleansing while leaving hair more manageable, less frizzy, and more moisturized after just one use, with the best results in three weeks. With my hair being so short, I wake up in the mornings looking something of a disheveled Jimmy Neutron and have to wash my hair every morning in order to style it. From washing my hair every three days when it was long, to every day, my hair has dried up and been left for dead. I've tried hair masks and deep conditioning treatments but found they really only helped for a day. I was desperate for another alternative. Hence my purchase of a $32 bottle of Wen.
On to the review
At Sephora, I was told to buy the Fig Cleansing Conditioner since my main complaint was dryness. I should have chosen differently because it smells like old school cough syrup. It kind of smells like some cruel chemist decided to pour dimetapp into the bottle. Other than that, I noticed that it did make my hair feel really nice when I rinsed it out. It made it feel like I had used a deep conditioner. Also, I'm not sure if it was because I got a trim right before I used it or what, but my hair was noticeably more manageable. And hey, less effort in the morning is always welcomed.
Even though I did notice my hair being more manageable, I wasn't super awed by this product. When I was talking to my hairdresser about it, she said that she wasn't amazed by what the product claimed to do. She had a few clients who used it and she said she didn't notice a difference in their hair. This kind of 'bleh' mentality was what I felt when my hair dried after the first use. It wasn't, however, until the next day when I showered when I found myself reaching for the Wen bottle again that I realized I may have formed an addiction. I had to fight myself to use my toning shampoo/conditioner and had to come to a compromise of mixing my toning shampoo/conditioner with Wen (and no this does not make me sound crazy). I don't even know why I feel this addiction because my scalp is still itchy and my hair doesn't feel amazingly more moisturized.
Overall
I'm still unsure if I'll repurchase this. I'm not seeing the amazing results that I hear people talk about, but then again it has only been a week. I'm still using a leave-in conditioner every day, which my hairdresser said I probably would have to anyway. I know for damn sure that I won't be repurchasing the Fig one because the smell of cough syrup in the morning makes me slightly nauseous.
On that lovely note,
xx Tori

Hair | Drugstore Superstars
Obviously I've noticed a sharp decrease in the amount of products I've used since cutting my hair. Nonetheless, I love these products whether my hair is short or long. I have dry hair, so anything to help with that is just super. Especially when it's long because my hair is naturally curly/wavy so combating frizz was a major issue.
Anywho, I'll be showcasing two drugstore favorites of mine. The Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream and Aussie 3 minute miracle.
Aussie's 3 minute miracle was recommended to me by Tessa one day at Target. I loved it from the first use. It's really nice because I don't use shampoo on my hair everyday so I just leave this in for the entirety of my shower. I find that I use it the day after I use my toning shampoo and conditioner. It has a really nice scent and really is a three minute miracle.

Hair | Hair Care Routine
Hey sweet angels, today I am going to sort of give you my "hair care" routine. A few years ago I made the unfortunate decision to let a friend of mine give me a loose perm (out of the goodness of my heart clearly) for a grade at cosmetology school. Which obviously resulted in some SERIOUSLY fried hair (also doesn't help that I had a bad habit of going back and forth from brown to blonde). Sooooooo I just have really damaged hair to this day. Which means all of you get the pleasure of me giving some suggestions on what I usually do to help out my hair get back to a semi decent healthy state.
1. I try my best to get a trim at least once a month. I know you're suppose to do it much more than that but I either don't have the time or the money.
2. I know this sounds gross but I only wash my hair once or twice a week (don't worry, I shower. Just wear a shower cap). It takes awhile for your hair to get use to it but after it does it's totally worth it. Keeps all the good natural oils in your hair.
3. I use non-sulfate shampoo and conditioner! My favorite conditioner is Palmers Coconut Oil Formula repairing conditioner.
4. Whenever I blow dry, flat iron, or curl my hair I try to use a heat protectant. My favorite is Not Your Mother's Beat the Heat.
5. After I've showered I sprits on Organix Morrocan Argan Oil or Organix Coconut Oil on to my hair.
I'm sure there's many other ways to treat your hair, but those are just a few of my tricks!
Now go on and treat yo self.
